Tandem Stills + Motion
In recognition of the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Midway in June 2017, Tandem Stills + Motion and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have partnered together to embark on a film project on the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge and Battle of Midway National Monument.
Midway: Edge of Tomorrow is a cinematic expedition that honors the island’s famous role in the Pacific theater of World War II and extends into the untold story of how this touchstone of battle has evolved into one of the most precious atolls on earth as a wildlife refuge and marine national monument. Midway’s geographical significance, once deemed important militarily, now holds an even greater role as a flagship of oceanic conservation. Tandem has also produced this website in conjunction with the film and the commemoration events.

Naval History and Heritage Command

Friends of Midway Atoll
The mission of Friends of Midway Atoll is to support Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge / Battle of Midway National Memorial in its efforts to preserve, protect and restore the biological diversity and historic resources of Midway Atoll, while providing opportunity for wildlife-dependent recreation, education, cultural experiences, and scientific research.
International Midway Memorial Foundation
The International Midway Memorial Foundation (IMMF) is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Maryland and dedicated to honoring the memory and the values of the Battle of Midway. Its mission is to ensure the battle’s rightful place as one of the most decisive naval battles in world history and as a battle that changed the course of World War II.

Office of Hawaiian Affairs
The Office of Hawaiian Affairs is a public agency with a high degree of autonomy. OHA is responsible for improving the well-being of Native Hawaiians. OHA is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of nine members who are elected statewide to serve four-year terms setting policy for the agency. OHA is administered by a Chief Executive Officer (Ka Pouhana) who is appointed by the Board of Trustees to oversee a staff of about 170 people.
World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument (National Park Service)
At World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, home of the USS Arizona Memorial, learn about one of the most pivotal moments in US history: the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the subsequent entry of the United States into World War II. United States Pacific Fleet
The United States Pacific Fleet (USPACFLT) is a Pacific Ocean theater-level component command of the United States Navy that provides naval forces to the United States Pacific Command. Fleet headquarters is at Pearl Harbor Naval Station, Hawaii, with large secondary facilities at North Island, San Diego Bay on the Mainland.
The mission of the U.S. Pacific Fleet is to advance Indo-Asia-Pacific regional maritime security and enhance stability in support of Commander, U.S. Pacific Command by being where it matters, when it matters, with what matters to decisively prevail in all contingencies from war to peace.
National Naval Aviation Museum
The National Naval Aviation Museum is the world’s largest Naval Aviation museum and one of the most-visited museums in the state of Florida. Blue Angels
The Blue Angels is the United States Navy’s flight demonstration squadron, with aviators from the Navy and Marines. The Blue Angels team was formed in 1946, making it the second oldest formal flying aerobatic team (under the same name) in the world, after the French Patrouille de France formed in 1931. The Blue Angels’ six demonstration pilots currently fly the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet, typically in more than 70 shows at 34 locations throughout the United States each year, where they still employ many of the same practices and techniques used in their aerial displays in their inaugural 1946 season. An estimated 11 million spectators view the squadron during air shows each full year. The Blue Angels also visit more than 50,000 people in a standard show season (March through November) in schools and hospitals. Since 1946, the Blue Angels have flown for more than 260 million spectators.
Pacific Aviation Museum
Housed in two battle-scarred hangars and the Ford Island Control Tower that survived the Pearl Harbor attack December 7, 1941, the Museum’s 50+ aircraft collection includes iconic planes, helicopters, and jets. Annually, the Museum commemorates the Battle of Midway. This year again, the Museum’s “Biggest Little Airshow in Hawaii” will be dedicated to the Battle of Midway Commemoration.
